Rudy Perez Killed in Pedestrian Accident on Highway 166 [Kern County, CA]

Early Morning Pedestrian Accident on Highway 166 in Kern County Ends in Fatality

 
KERN COUNTY, CA (March 7, 2022) – Rudy Luna Perez was killed in a pedestrian accident on Highway 166 in Kern County, early Sunday morning.
 
The accident happened around 2:34 a.m. on March 6 just north of 5 Freeway. According to the California Highway Patrol, a silver Kia Optima struck Perez who was walking in traffic lanes.
 
When officers arrived, they found Perez lying in the roadway. Life-saving measures were performed, but Perez died at the scene. He was a 63-year-old Selma resident.
 
Crews closed both the westbound and eastbound lanes of the highway while they cleared the wreckage.
 
It is unclear if drugs or alcohol was involved. This fatality is still under investigation.
