Police Arrest DUI Suspect after Four-Car Crash on Highway 198 in Visalia

 
VISALIA, CA (November 27, 2022) – Police arrested Ruben N. Martinez Jr. for DUI after a four-car crash in Visalia late Friday evening on November 25.
 
The accident happened around 11:00 p.m. on Highway 198 near Highway 65. According to the California Highway Patrol, the 32-year-old suspect from Visalia was driving a Chevrolet Silverado westbound on Highway 198 approaching Highway 65 when a 40-year-old woman from Exeter driving her Infiniti QX60 southbound on Highway 65 entered the intersection.
 
A 30-year-old woman from Woodlake was waiting at the eastbound Highway 198 left turning lane at Highway 65 in her Nissan Frontier along with a 29-year-old Porterville man in his Mazda 3.

The Chevrolet entered the intersection facing a red light and collided into the left side of the Infiniti. The impact caused the Infiniti to roll over and collide into the Nissan and Mazda.

As a result, Martinez Jr. and the driver of the Infiniti both suffered major injuries. The driver of the Infiniti and their five juvenile passengers, ages 6 to 13, sustained moderate to major injuries.

The drivers of the other two vehicles were uninjured.

Officers determined that Martinez Jr. was driving under the influence of alcohol and arrested him.

Further investigation is underway.
