Teen Passenger in Stolen Vehicle Dies after Crash in Adelanto

 
ADELANTO, CA (September 27, 2023) – Ronell Thomas was killed in a stolen vehicle crash in Adelanto early Sunday morning on September 24.
 
The fatal crash happened around 1:08 a.m. on Bellflower Street at Seneca Road. According to the San Bernardino County Sheriff’s Department, deputies tried to pull over a car which did not have its lights on, but the driver sped away.
 
Minutes later, the car lost control and crashed.
 
Thomas, who was a passenger in the car, died at the scene. He was 13 years old and an 8th grader at Columbia Middle School.
 
Two other teens, both 15, were taken to a hospital.
 
Two other people ran away from the scene. One of them, a 14-year-old, was found, but the fifth remains at large.
 
Deputies determined that the car the teens were in had been reported stolen the night before.
