Robert Nunez Killed in Wrong-Way Car Accident in Long Beach

 
LONG BEACH, CA (November 23, 2021)Robert Nunez died in a wrong-way crash with a big rig on the 710 Freeway near 9th Street.
 
According to the Long Beach Police, the fatal wrong-way crash happened around 11:45 p.m. on November 12.
 
For unknown reasons, 68-year-old Nunez was driving a 1996 Toyota 4Runner northbound in the southbound lanes of the freeway. Subsequently, the 4Runner struck a guardrail and crashed into a southbound tractor-trailer.
 
Due to the nature of the crash, Nunez, of Montebello, suffered severe injuries and died the following day. Meanwhile, the 23-year-old truck driver from Bakersfield who was operating the big rig stayed at the scene and cooperated with police investigators.
 
At this time, officers have not confirmed the true factors of the crash. However, they are looking into distracted driving and speed as possible explanations.
