Early Morning Multi-Vehicle Crash on Ronald Reagan Freeway in Pacoima Kills 35-Year-Old Man

 
PACOIMA, CA (July 24, 2023) – Robert Castellanos was killed in a multiple-vehicle accident on the Ronald Reagan (118) Freeway in Pacoima early Sunday morning on July 23.
 
The fatal accident happened around 2:48 a.m. at 5 Freeway. According to California Highway Patrol, multiple vehicles including a pickup truck and a sports car collided along the eastbound 118 Freeway.
 
Castellanos, 35, was trapped inside the sports car. Firefighters used hydraulic tools to free him from the wreckage before pronouncing him dead at the scene.
 
At this time, the victim’s city of residence was not immediately available.
 
CHP officials issued a SigAlert at 3:27 a.m., shutting down all eastbound lanes of the Ronald Reagan Freeway while they worked on the scene.
 
The circumstances of the crash remain under investigation.
