Rider Dies in Motorcycle Crash on Highway 118

 
SOMIS, CA (November 18, 2021)— A rider died in a motorcycle accident on Highway 118 near Sand Canyon Road Wednesday morning.
 
According to the California Highway Patrol, the fatal two-car accident happened around 6:30 a.m. Under unclear circumstances, a woman driving a Ford Escort was preparing to make a left turn into a private driveway, causing eastbound traffic to slow down behind her.
 
Per reports, the rider crossed over the double yellow lines to pass up the slower-moving cars. However, in an attempt to get around the blockage, he collided with the rear of the Ford Escort.
 
As a result of the crash, the unidentified man, described as a Camarillo resident in his 50s, suffered fatal injuries.
 
At this time, CHP investigators have not released information on the liabilities or other circumstances. Although, anyone with more information should contact the authorities.
