58-Year-Old Transient Dies after Struck by Vehicle on Central Avenue in Montclair

 
MONTCLAIR, CA (March 20, 2023) – Raymond Alvarez was hit and killed by a vehicle in Montclair early Wednesday morning on March 15.
 
The fatal crash happened around 4:45 a.m. on Central Avenue, just north of San Bernardino Street. According to the Montclair Police Department, Alvarez was walking across Central Avenue when a vehicle struck him.
 
First responders rushed Alvarez to Montclair Hospital Medical Center, where he was pronounced dead at 5:42 a.m. He was a 58-year-old transient.
 
It is unknown at this time if the involved driver stayed after the crash. An investigation is underway.
