Raquel Sigarroa Dies after Hit by Pickup Truck on Blackstone Avenue in North Fresno

 
FRESNO, CA (July 20, 2022) – A woman died in a pedestrian accident on Blackstone Avenue and Ashlan Avenue in North Fresno early Thursday, July 14.
 
Police identified the victim as 50-year-old Raquel Sigarroa of Fresno.
 
The fatal accident happened just after midnight at the intersection. According to the Fresno Police Department, Sigarroa was in the center median when she stepped out into traffic, into the path of a pickup truck.
 
The driver of the pickup could not avoid Sigarroa and struck her.
 
As a result, Sigarroa suffered fatal injuries and died at the scene.
 
The driver stayed on scene and cooperated with police.
 
Northbound traffic along Blackstone was closed for the investigation. It is unknown if drugs or alcohol played a role in the crash.
