Motorcyclist Suffers Serious Injuries after Crash on Highway 101 in Santa Maria

 
SANTA MARIA, CA (July 20, 2022) – One person was seriously injured in a motorcycle accident on Highway 101 in Santa Maria on Sunday evening, July 17.
 
The accident happened around 8:21 p.m. in the southbound lanes of the highway near the Betteravia Road off-ramp. According to the CHP, the motorcycle rider was involved in a collision in unclear circumstances.
 
The Santa Maria Fire Department reported that the rider was flown to Santa Barbara Cottage Hospital for treatment of serious injuries.
 
Crews closed the highway for about 20 minutes while they cleared the wreckage.
 
At this time, it is unknown how many other vehicles were involved. CHP officials are still investigating the accident.
