Traffic Accident at Stowell and Bradley Roads Kills Santa Maria Couple
SANTA MARIA, CA (August 12, 2024) – Randall Kern and Marichu Kern were killed in a traffic accident in Santa Maria Thursday morning on August 1.
The fatal accident happened around 9:15 a.m. at Stowell Road and Bradley Road. According to the Santa Maria Police Department, Randall was driving southbound on Bradley Road with his wife Marichu. He had a green light at the Stowell Road intersection.
At the same time, 20-year-old Edith Gomez Camarillo was traveling eastbound on Stowell Road. She ran a red light and crashed into the passenger side of Kern’s vehicle.
As a result, both Randall and Marichu suffered significant injuries. Paramedics rushed them to Marian Regional Medical Center, where they later died. Randall was 68 years old, while Marichu was 55. Both were residents of Santa Maria.
Meanwhile, Camarillo sustained minor injuries. She remained at the scene and cooperated with officers.
It was unknown if drugs or alcohol played a role in the crash. Police urged anyone with additional information to call Officer D. Rhoads at 805-928-3781 ext. 1355.
