Fresno Police Officer, Driver Hurt after Car Crashes into Rear of Patrol Car on Highway 180

 
FRESNO, CA (January 8, 2024) – A police officer and a driver suffered injuries in a car accident on Highway 180, Thursday evening.
 
According to the Fresno Police Department, the incident happened on January 4, at about 6:30 p.m. The officer was performing a sobriety test on a driver in front of his patrol car.
 
A short time later, a second vehicle crashed into the rear of the patrol car. The impact caused the patrol car to hit the officer and the suspected DUI driver near Chestnut Avenue.
 
Emergency crews transported the victims to a local hospital with non-life-threatening injuries.
 
As per reports, the driver who hit the patrol car was not under the influence.
 
Fresno police continue to investigate the cause of the accident.
