Light Plane Crashes on Lyons Valley Road Killing the Pilot

 
LYONS PEAK, CA (October 10, 2022) – A pilot was killed in a plane crash on Lyons Valley Road on the eastern side of Lyons Peak on Tuesday afternoo, October 4.
 
The search began around 12:45 p.m., after a caller reported seeing the plane apparently crashing to the ground off the 17900 block of Lyons Valley Road, just east of Jamul.
 
Emergency crews found the widely scattered wreckage of the light aircraft and human remains.
 
Authorities confirmed that the pilot was killed in the crash. They did not reveal the victim’s identity at this time.
 
The type of plane that went down was not immediately clear. However, a home-built aircraft being flown by a solo pilot was reported missing out of Gillespie Field in El Cajon earlier in the day.
 
The Federal Aviation Administration and National Transportation Safety Board are handling the investigation.
