Accident on Highway 29 in Yountville Kills Pedro Santarosa, Injures 4

 
YOUNTVILLE, CA (May 11, 2021)Pedro Alexis Santarosa died in a two-vehicle accident on Highway 29 in Yountville.
 
The accident happened around 9:00 p.m. Friday, May 7, just south of Washington Street. According to the California Highway Patrol, the 24-year-old St. Helena man was driving a 2003 Nissan Altima southbound on the highway.
 
For unknown reasons, he crossed the double-yellow line into oncoming northbound traffic. After that, he collided with a 2011 Honda Pilot, driven by 43-year-old Joanne M. Ruggirello.
 
As a result, Santarosa suffered fatal injuries and died at the scene.
 
Subsequently, paramedics took the four occupants of the Honda to Providence Queen of the Valley Medical Center. Ruggirello and her two juvenile passengers, ages 16 and 4, sustained minor injuries. However, an adult passenger, 47-year-old James Coffin, had moderate injuries.
 
At this time, CHP officials are still trying to determine the factors involved the crash.
