Gregory Turnage Jr. Dies in Oakland Hit-and-Run, Timothy Hamano Awaits Trial

 
OAKLAND, CA (July 30, 2021) – A man was killed in a pedestrian hit-and-run on Park Boulevard in Oakland Sunday afternoon, May 9.
 
64-year-old Timothy Hamano, the Piedmont wealth manager charged with crashing his Lexus into Gregory Turnage Jr. and killing the Oakland father before fleeing the scene, was ordered by a judge to stay home with an ankle monitor as he awaits trial.
 
According to the Oakland Police Department, Turnage Jr. was standing on the sidewalk in the 3800 block of Park Boulevard near Greenwood Avenue. However, a northbound Lexus GS ran off the road, hit him, then crashed into a parked car around 5:15 p.m.
 
Police say Hamano left the scene on foot, leaving his injured wife in their car with the air bags deployed. His wife told police that Hamano had been drinking throughout the day. But because police say he left the scene, they could not test his intoxication level.
 
Hamano never stopping to check on Turnage Jr., who later died at the hospital. The victim’s family has filed a civil suit against Hamano on behalf of Turnage’s 10-year-old son, Miles.
 
Hamano faces felony charges of vehicular manslaughter and leaving the scene of an accident.
