Man Fatally Struck by Car on South Edison Road near Panama Lane in Bakersfield

 
BAKERSFIELD, CA (March 24, 2022) – A man was struck and killed by a car on South Edison Road, late Tuesday evening.
 
According to the California Highway Patrol, the incident happened on March 22 at about 11:44 p.m. A pedestrian attempted to cross outside of a marked crosswalk. Then, a northbound Toyota Corolla hit the man near Panama Lane.
 
Emergency crews pronounced the man dead at the scene. Authorities withheld the name of the victim, pending notification of next of kin.
 
As per reports, the Toyota driver initially left the scene. However, the driver later returned to the scene to cooperate with investigators.
