Pedestrian Dies after Struck by Hit-and-Run Driver on Foothill Boulevard in Oakland, Suspect Arrested

 
OAKLAND, CA (October 19, 2021) – A pedestrian was killed in a hit-and-run crash at Foothill Boulevard and Miller Avenue Monday morning.
 
The fatal crash happened around 8:26 a.m. on October 18. According to the Oakland Police Department, a vehicle intentionally hit the female pedestrian who was walking at the intersection.
 
After striking the victim, the male driver fled the scene. But police stopped the vehicle about 9:35 a.m. at the intersection of 14th Avenue and East 32nd Street and took the suspect into custody.
 
Meanwhile, the pedestrian died at the scene. Authorities only described her as a 39-year-old woman.
 
Police investigated the incident as a homicide. They have not said if the man knew the victim or what they believe the motive was.
