Pedestrian Dies after Struck by DUI Driver in Fontana, Suspect Arrested

 
FONTANA, CA (March 8, 2023) – A pedestrian was killed and police arrested Christian Garnica after a DUI crash in Fontana early Sunday morning on March 5.
 
The fatal crash happened around 1:23 a.m. at Citrus Avenue and Baseline Avenue. According to the Fontana Police Department, the 27-year-old suspect was driving a Ford Mustang northbound on Citrus when he struck the pedestrian, who was in the roadway.
 
The pedestrian, an unidentified male adult, suffered fatal injuries and died at the scene.
 
Police arrested Garnica on a DUI charge and booked him into West Valley Detention Center.
 
Further investigation is underway.
