1 Dead after Pedestrian Accident on Highway 99 near Minter Field Airport

 
BAKERSFIELD, CA (June 3, 2024) – A pedestrian died in an accident on Highway 99, early Friday morning.
 
According to the California Highway Patrol, the incident happened on May 31, at about 1:30 a.m. For reasons still under investigation, a vehicle struck the victim near Minter Field Airport, just south of Merced Avenue.
 
Emergency crews pronounced the victim dead at the scene. Authorities withheld the identity of the victim, pending notification of next of kin.
 
Details about the driver were not immediately disclosed.
 
Responders temporarily closed affected areas to make way for an investigation.
 
CHP continues to investigate the cause of the fatal accident. Officers will release additional information once it becomes available.
