SAN JOAQUIN COUNTY, CA (February 27, 2024) — A pedestrian was hit and killed by a deputy on Waterloo Road near Piccoli Road.
 
According to the San Joaquin County Sheriff’s Office, the fatal pedestrian accident happened around 11:20 p.m. Sunday. For unknown reasons, a pedestrian, described as an unhoused victim, was reportedly walking with a woman on Waterloo Road. Subsequently, a San Joaquin County Sheriff’s Office K9 deputy heading eastbound at an unknown speed struck the individual, who was wearing dark clothing.
 
Soon after, emergency personnel arrived, but the victim passed away from his injuries. Officials did not release his name.
 
Moments after the crash, an unrelated vehicle sped through the police tape during the investigation and struck the body lying on the road.
 
At this time, authorities did not say what led to either the accident or the factors that precipitated the cause. However, authorities are looking into all possibilities.
