Pedestrian Killed in Hit-and-Run Crash on Alvarado-Niles Road in Union City

 
UNION CITY, CA (March 27, 2023) — A pedestrian died in a hit-and-run accident on Alvarado-Niles Road and Dowe Avenue.
 
According to Union City police officers, the deadly hit-and-run accident happened around 9:32 p.m. Friday. For unknown reasons, a driver struck a pedestrian and left the scene without rendering aid. Officers responded soon after and found the person lying on the road. Arriving paramedics pronounced the victim dead at the scene.
 
Not long after, police found the suspect vehicle parked in a neighborhood in Union City. They then contacted a man believed to be the driver of the car but arrested him for an unrelated crime. Reports did not make it clear if the man charged was involved in the accident.
