Three-Vehicle Accident on 8th Street in Bakersfield Leaves Pedestrian in Critical Condition

 
BAKERSFIELD, CA (December 21, 2022) – A pedestrian was critically injured in a three-vehicle accident on 8th Street in Bakersfield Friday morning on December 16.
 
The accident happened around 9:51 a.m. near Chester Avenue. According to the Bakersfield Police Department, the male pedestrian is a mobile car washer who was washing a vehicle on the south curb.
 
A man driving a pickup truck swerved into traffic and struck the vehicle being washed, pinning the victim between the vehicles.
 
The impact then pushed the two vehicles into a third vehicle.
 
The victim suffered significant injuries from the crash. Paramedics rushed him to a hospital in critical condition.
 
Police later arrested the driver of the pickup truck on suspicion of driving under the influence. They took him to Kern County Jail.
