KCSO Identifies Tulare Man Killed in Fiery 5 Freeway Crash near Stockdale Highway

 
BAKERSFIELD, CA (July 12, 2021) – Paulie Pryce Nunez Cortez was identified as the man who died in a fiery accident in Bakersfield Friday last month, June 18.
 
The accident happened around 6:00 a.m. on 5 Freeway near Stockdale Highway. CHP officials said Cortez was driving a vehicle when he crossed over the center median for unknown reasons and collided with a semi truck. The impact caused the car to burst into flames.
 
Cortez suffered fatal injuries and died at the scene. He was a 21-year-old Tulare resident, according to the Kern County Sheriff’s Office.
 
It is unknown if speed, drugs or alcohol played a role in the crash. Further investigation is underway.
