78-Year-Old Woman Dies in Long Beach Pedestrian Hit-and-Run

 
LONG BEACH, CA (July 12, 2021)Jere Whitney was killed in a pedestrian hit-and-run late Tuesday evening in Long Beach.
 
The accident happened just after 10:00 p.m. on July 6, at 4th Street and Ximeno Avenue. According to the Long Beach Police Department, the 78-year-old woman was walking in a crosswalk when a red Subaru Outback or Crosstrek making a left turn struck her.
 
After the crash, the driver fled the scene westbound on Fourth Street.
 
First responders found Whitney suffering from major injuries to her upper torso. They rushed her to a hospital, where she later died.
 
The hit-and-run suspect remains at large.
