Passenger Dies after DUI Driver Crashes into Tree in Saugus

 
SAUGUS, CA (November 6, 2023) – Orlando Gomez-Sales died in a DUI crash in Saugus early Wednesday morning on November 1.
 
The fatal crash happened around 3:30 a.m. near Bouquet Canyon Road and Sutters Pointe Drive. According to the Santa Clarita Valley Sheriff’s Station, 20-year-old Raul Ramirez was driving a dark blue Ford Edge when he struck an ornamental tree before colliding with a wooden power pole.
 
Gomez-Salez, a 39-year-old Santa Clarita resident, was the passenger in the car. He died at the scene.
 
Ramirez was transported to a local hospital for treatment. He was later arrested and charged with several felonies, including DUI and murder.
 
Gomez’ remains are expected to be transport to Guatemala for burial. His loved ones had set up a GoFundMe page for his funeral expenses.
