Police Chase Ends in Deadly Crash in Downtown LA Killing Two Passengers

 
DOWNTOWN LOS ANGELES, CA (November 6, 2023) – Baltazar Rayon was among two people who died in a police chase in downtown Los Angeles Sunday morning on November 5.
 
According to the Los Angeles Police Department, patrolling officers spotted someone throw a gun from a green minivan on 110 Freeway at Central Avenue around 5:00 a.m. on November 5. Officers tried to pull the minivan over, which prompted a pursuit.
 
The pursuit ended when the minivan crashed into a Metro bus in the area of Main Street and 17th Street.
 
Two rear-seat passengers of the minivan were killed in the crash. The Los Angeles County Department of Medical Examiner identified Rayon as one of the fatal victims. He was 28 years old.
 
The driver of the minivan and another passenger suffered non-life-threatening injuries.

Meanwhile, the Metro bus operator and the only person aboard the vehicle declined treatment.

Police said the tossed handgun was eventually recovered. Further investigation is underway.
