One Arrested in DUI Accident on Winter Haven Road near Havencrest Drive [Fallbrook, CA]

Police Arrest Driver for DUI after Crash on Winter Haven Road in Fallbrook Seriously Injuring Passenger

 
FALLBROOK, CA (July 20, 2022) – Police arrested the driver after a DUI accident on Winter Haven Road in Fallbrook early Sunday morning on July 17.
 
The accident happened around 2:40 a.m. near Havencrest Drive. According to the California Highway Patrol, a Toyota Tacoma pickup truck was heading west on Winter Haven when it veered off the roadway. It then slammed into the front of the house.
 
The impact from the crash caused enough damage that officials red tagged the house until a building inspector could take a closer look.
 
The driver and his 20-year-old passenger suffered critical injuries.
 
Two young children who were inside the house sustained minor injuries.
 
Paramedics took the driver and passenger to Palomar Medical Center.
 
The two children, ages 5 and 9, were taken to Rady Children’s Hospital in Kearny Mesa.
 
Police later arrested the driver, a man from Fallbrook, on suspicion of felony DUI and other charges.
 
The crash remains under investigation. The CHP asked anyone with information to contact the Oceanside area CHP office at 760-643-3400.
