Man Injured after Driving Wrong-Way in Rancho Bernardo

 
RANCHO BERNARDO, CA (November 9, 2021) – A man was seriously injured in a wrong-way, head-on accident on Rancho Bernardo Road on Sunday evening.
 
The accident happened on around 9:20 p.m. on November 7 near Via Tarzon. According to the San Diego Police Department, a 44-year-old woman driving a Mini Cooper was heading east in the left lane. Soon after, she was hit by a 59-year-old man in a Chrysler Town and Country mini van driving the wrong way of Rancho Bernardo Road.
 
When officers arrived, they located one occupant trapped inside one of the vehicles. Firefighters extricated the patient and transported them to a hospital for treatment.
 
Officials transported the man to the hospital with a broken leg. However, the woman did not suffer any injuries.
 
Police are still investigating to determine whether drugs or alcohol played a role in the crash.
