Wrong-Way Driver Causes Five-Vehicle Accident on 5 Freeway in San Ysidro, One Person Suffers Significant Injuries

 
SAN YSIDRO, CA (September 26, 2021) – At least one person suffered serious injuries after a five-vehicle accident on 5 Freeway caused by a wrong-way driver Saturday afternoon.
 
The crash happened around 2:00 p.m. on September 25, near 905 Freeway. According to the CHP, a faded red Honda Civic was traveling north in a southbound lane when it collided with a Toyota Tacoma. The initial collision triggers a five-vehicle crash.
 
San Diego Fire-Rescue Department units responded to the scene and found someone trapped in one of the vehicles.
 
Paramedics transported one passenger to a hospital with a broken leg. At least two other people sustained minor injuries from the crash.
