Wrong-Way Vehicle Triggers Deadly Crash on 5 Freeway in Tustin

 
TUSTIN, CA (October 3, 2022) – One person was killed in a wrong-way accident on 5 Freeway in Tustin early Sunday morning, October 2.
 
The accident happened around 2:10 a.m. in the area of the conversion road from the 55 Freeway to the 5 Freeway. According to the California Highway Patrol, a white Toyota Prius was traveling northbound in the southbound lanes when it collided with a Subaru Outback.
 
As a result, one person suffered fatal injuries and died at the scene. The victim was not yet identified.
 
CHP officials issued a SigAlert for the southbound 55 Freeway and the 5 Freeway carpool lane while the investigation continues.
 
It is unknown if drugs or alcohol was a factor in the crash.
