Morning Two-Vehicle Accident on Highway 101 near Chualar Area Ends in Fatality

 
MONTEREY COUNTY, CA (April 24, 2022) – At least one person died in a two-vehicle accident on Highway 101 in Monterey County on Friday morning.
 
The accident happened around 5:37 a.m. on April 22 just near Chualar. According to the California Highway Patrol, a GMC Yukon and a sedan collided along the southbound highway for unknown reasons.
 
When officers arrived, they located one vehicle in the center divider and the other was blocking the roadway. Smoke were coming from both vehicles.
 
Officers also confirmed at least one fatality as a result of the accident. They withheld the victim’s identity pending confirmation and notification of family members.
 
At this time, the exact cause of the crash and factors involved remain under investigation.
