Passenger Dies after Car and Semi Truck Collide on 57 Freeway in Placentia

 
PLACENTIA, CA (May 7, 2023) – One person was killed in a two-vehicle accident on 57 Freeway in Placentia Thursday morning on May 4.
 
The fatal accident happened around 6:37 a.m. at the Orangethorpe Avenue on-ramp. According to the California Highway Patrol, a black Hyundai Sonata was traveling northbound on the freeway when it slammed into a wall. A semi truck then crashed into the Sonata.
 
When officers arrived, they located both vehicles on the right shoulder of the freeway. A passenger in the Hyundai was found unresponside inside the car.
 
Life-saving measures were performed on the passenger, but the unidentified victim died at the scene.
 
It is unknown if speed, drugs or alcohol played a factor in the crash. Further investigation is underway.
