Three-Vehicle Accident on Highway 17 in Los Gatos Kills 1 and Injures 2

 
LOS GATOS, CA (June 7, 2021) – One person was killed in a three-vehicle accident on Highway 17 in Los Gatos Saturday morning, June 5.
 
The accident happened around 8:10 a.m. near Bear Creek Road. According to the California Highway Patrol, a septic tanker was traveling on Black Road, which runs perpendicular to Highway 17. For unknown reasons, the driver lost control of the vehicle’s brakes.
 
The septic tanker continued across a frontage road and through a barrier separating it from the highway. It then collided with a Mercedes-Benz and a pickup truck traveling south.
 
As a result, the driver of the pickup truck suffered fatal injuries and died at the scene.
 
The drivers of the Mercedes and the tanker sustained minor injuries and were taken to a hospital.
 
Crews closed all southbound lanes of Highway 17 near Bear Creek while they cleared the wreckage, including a spill from the septic tanker.
 
At this time, the accident is under investigation.
