Person Fatally Struck by Coaster Train near Leucadia Boulevard and Moonlight State Beach

 
ENCINITAS, CA (June 7, 2021) – A pedestrian was struck and killed by a Coaster train near Leucadia Boulevard, Friday afternoon.
 
According to the San Diego County Sheriff’s Department, the incident happened at about 3:00 p.m. A Coaster train reportedly hit the pedestrian in the area of Leucadia Boulevard and North Coast Highway 101, near Moonlight State Beach.
 
Emergency crews pronounced the pedestrian dead at the scene. Authorities did not release the name and age of the victim, pending notification of next of kin.
 
North County Transit and the Sheriff’s Department continue to investigate the cause of the fatal pedestrian accident. Investigators will release additional information once it becomes available.
