Rollover Crash on Big Pines Highway Kills Driver and Injures Passenger

LOS ANGELES COUNTY, CA (April 20, 2021) – A 29-year-old driver was killed in a rollover accident on Big Pines Highway in Los Angeles County Monday evening, April 19.

The accident happened around 7:35 p.m. just west of Largo Vista Road. According to the California Highway Patrol, the driver of a 2009 Nissan made an unsafe turn that caused the car to drift onto the right shoulder. It then veered left across the eastbound lane and went through a barbed-wire fence.

The Nissan overturned down an embankment, ejecting the driver who was not wearing a seat belt.

As a result, the driver suffered fatal injuries and died at the scene. A passenger in the vehicle sustained minor injuries and was airlifted to a hospital, the CHP said.

The name of the driver was not disclosed.

It is unclear if alcohol or drugs played a factor in the crash, which remains under investigation.
