Plane Crashes on North Driver Road in Shafter, Killing the Pilot

 
SHAFTER, CA (November 4, 2021) – One person died in a plane crash on North Driver Road in Shafter Wednesday morning.
 
The fatal crash happened around 11:56 a.m. on November 3 at East Lerdo Highway near Minter Field Airport. According to the Kern County Fire Department, a crop dusting aircraft took off from Shafter Airport headed northwest to New Cuyama when it crashed.
 
The Kern County Fire Department, Kern County Sheriff’s Office, Shafter Police Department, Environmental Health and an ambulance all responded to the scene, according to officials. The fire was extinguished and the pilot was the only passenger on board, who died at the scene.
 
HAZMAT also responded but they did not find any hazardous materials on scene.
 
There are no reports of what caused the plane crash at this time.
 
Federal Aviation and the National Transportation Safety Board have been notified for investigation purposes.
