73-Year-Old Woman Dies after Struck by Vehicle on Highway 49 in Jackson

 
JACKSON, CA (November 4, 2021) – A 73-year-old woman died in a pedestrian accident on Highway 49 in Jackson Wednesday morning.
 
The accident happened around 9:15 a.m. on November 3, at the intersection with Highway 88. According to the Jackson Police Department, the female pedestrian was attempting to cross Highway 49 westbound when she stepped into the crosswalk directly in the path of a 2019 Kenworth truck, which was negotiating a right turn from Highway 88.
 
The truck then hit the pedestrian, causing her fatal injuries. Responding paramedics pronounced the woman dead at the scene.
 
The driver of the truck, Tyler Alexander Harrison, remained on scene and cooperated with police.
 
No drugs or alcohol use are suspected to be a factor for the crash. An investigation is ongoing and anyone who may have witnessed the accident is urged to the call the Jackson Police Department at (209) 223-1771.
