Early Morning Pedestrian Crash on San Diego Freeway in Carlsbad Turns Deadly

 
CARLSBAD, CA (July 17, 2023) – One person was killed in a pedestrian accident on San Diego (5) Freeway in Carlsbad early Tuesday morning on July 11.
 
The fatal accident happened around 2:20 a.m. at Poinsettia Lane. According to the California Highway Patrol, a white vehicle struck the pedestrian along the southbound freeway.
 
When officers arrived, they found the pedestrian lying on the freeway on-ramp and was already deceased.
 
Details of how the crash occurred were not immediately available. It is also unknown if the involved driver stayed after the crash.
