Pedestrian Dies after Struck by Semi Truck on 880 Freeway in Milpitas
MILPITAS, CA (December 20, 2021) – One person was killed in a pedestrian accident on 880 Freeway in Milpitas, early Sunday morning.
The fatal accident happened around 1:09 a.m. on December 19 just south of the Tasman Drive off-ramp, also known as Great Mall Parkway. According to the California Highway Patrol, the pedestrian jumped in front of a semi tractor-trailer in the southbound lanes of the freeway.
The semi then struck the pedestrian, killing the victim upon impact.
Authorities withheld the identity of the pedestrian pending notification of next of kin.
At this time, it is unknown if drugs or alcohol was a factor. An investigation into this fatality is underway.
