Wrong-Way Driver Causes Fatal Multi-Vehicle Accident on Santa Monica Freeway in West LA
WEST LOS ANGELES, CA (June 21, 2021) – One person died in a multiple-vehicle accident on Santa Monica (10) Freeway in West Los Angeles early Saturday morning.
The accident happened around 4:20 a.m. on June 19, near Bundy Drive. According to the California Highway Patrol, a vehicle was traveling the wrong way causing a collision. A pickup truck and a blue car then also collided after the initial crash.
Deputies responded and confirmed one fatality as a result of the accident. The identity of the victim was not immediately available.
Crews closed three of the four lanes of the freeway for unknown duration while they cleared the wreckage.
At this time, CHP officials are investigating the factors involved in the crash and liability.
