Morning Fiery Crash on Highway 108 in Jamestown Kills 1 and Injures Another

JAMESTOWN, CA (March 19, 2023) – One person died and Joshua Selesia was injured in a fiery crash in Jamestown Thursday morning on March 16.

The fatal crash happened around 9:10 a.m. on Highway 108, just east of La Grange Road. According to the CHP, a 2023 Honda was traveling east on the highway and a 2013 Ford F650 tow truck hauling a 2001 Ford Excursion was going west.

The driver of the Honda traveled onto the highway’s south shoulder and overcorrected, turning the vehicle to the left. He then crossed over the broken yellow line into the path of the oncoming F650, driven by Selesia.

After the vehicles came to a rest, a fire ignited in the Honda and it became fully engulfed in flames before spreading to the F650 and Excursion.

The driver of the Honda died at the scene. The Tuolumne County Coroner’s Office withheld his identity at this time.

Selesia, a 47-year-old Sonora resident, suffered moderate injuries and was taken to Memorial Medical Center in Modesto.

The cause of the crash is still under investigation, though drugs and alcohol are not suspected to be factors.

We send our heartfelt condolences to the family and friends of the victim.
