Driver Dies after Crashing into Semi Truck on Highway 43 in Visalia

 
VISALIA, CA (May 1, 2023) – One person was killed in a semi truck accident on Highway 43 in Visalia Thursday morning on April 27.
 
The fatal accident happened around 5:35 a.m. just north of Avenue 56. According to the California Highway Patrol, a 71-year-old man from Alphaugh was driving a 2017 Nissan when he failed to stop and collided into the rear of a 2020 Kenworth tractor-trailer, driven by 44-year-old Jorge Huesla of Corcoran.
 
The semi was stopped in the roadway waiting behind other stopped traffic.
 
The driver of the Nissan was unrestrained. He suffered fatal injuries and died at the scene.
 
It is unknown if Huesla was hurt in the crash.
 
An investigation into this fatality is underway. CHP are still trying to determine whether drugs or alcohol was involved in the crash.
