Amtrak Train and Vehicle Collide near California Pacific Road in Vacaville Killing One
VACAVILLE, CA (January 22, 2023) – One person died in a fiery train accident near California Pacific Road and Elmira Road in Vacaville on Thursday afternoon.
The accident happened just before 12:30 p.m. on January 19. According to the Vacaville Fire Protection District, an Amtrak train 541 with 106 passengers onboard was traveling from Sacramento to San Jose. A vehicle obstructing the track came into contact with the train.
As a result of the crash, the vehicle caught fire. One person inside the vehicle died at the scene.
At this time, the identity of the deceased was not immediately available.
Amtrak is working with local law enforcement to investigate the crash.
