Crash Involving Wrong-Way Driver on 10 Freeway in Rancho Park Leaves 1 Dead and 3 Seriously Injured

 
RANCHO PARK, CA (August 8, 2024) – One person was killed in a wrong-way crash on 10 Freeway in the Rancho Park area of West Los Angeles early Sunday morning on April 7.
 
The fatal crash happened just before 2:00 a.m. near Overland Avenue. According to the California Highway Patrol, 51-year-old Cristina Weidya was driving eastbound in the westbound lanes when she crashed head-on into another vehicle with three people inside.
 
As a result of the crash, the 19-year-old female driver of the other vehicle died at the scene. She was not yet identified. Her 13-year-old and 15-year-old passengers were seriously injured.
 
Weidya also sustained major injuries and was later arrested.
 
It is unknown if drugs or alcohol played a factor in the crash, which is still under investigation.
