Driver Dies in Early Morning Chain-Reaction Crash on 680 Freeway in Dublin
DUBLIN, CA (November 14, 2022) – One person was killed after a chain-reaction crash on 680 Freeway in Dublin early Saturday morning, November 12.
The fatal crash happened around 2:55 a.m. near the Alcosta Boulevard on-ramp. According to the California Highway Patrol, a Mercedes C230 was traveling southbound on the freeway when it lost control and crashed into the center divider.
While disabled on the freeway, a Ford Fusion struck the Mercedes and caused a chain-reaction crash.
The driver of the Mercedes was ejected during the chain-reaction crash and died at the scene. They were not yet identified.
The CHP do not believe alcohol was a factor in the crash. Further investigation is underway.
