Driver Dies after Sedan Crashes into Big Rig on 10 Freeway in Desert Center

 
DESERT CENTER, CA (August 6, 2022) – One person was killed in a big rig accident on 10 Freeway in the Desert Center area late Saturday afternoon.
 
The accident happened around 5:45 p.m. along the westbound freeway, about two miles east of Red Cloud Mine Road. According to the Riverside County Fire Department, a gray sedan rear-ended the big rig in unclear circumstances.
 
The impact left the driver of the sedan lying on a seat inside his car and witnesses were unable to pull him out.
 
Officers arrived and pronounced the driver dead at the scene.
 
The name, age and hometown of the deceased were not immediately available.
 
It is unknown if speed, drugs or alcohol played a factor in the crash. Further investigation is underway.
