Innocent Driver Dies in 7-Car Pileup after Chase on South Central Avenue in South LA

 
SOUTH LOS ANGELES, CA (July 15, 2022) – One person died in a seven-car pileup on South Central Avenue in South Los Angeles on Thursday afternoon, July 14.
 
The accident happened just after 3:00 p.m. in the 11600 block of South Central Avenue near 105 Freeway. According to the Los Angeles County Sheriff’s Department, the crash involved four to seven vehicles including a stolen Kia Sportage with Oregon plates.
 
When officers arrived, they found four mangled vehicles. At least two people, described as suspects in the chase, were badly injured.
 
One innocent motorist died at the scene. Authorities withheld the victim’s identity pending notification of next of kin.
 
It is believed that Los Angeles County sheriff’s deputies were chasing the suspects, a driver and one passenger, in what was believed to be a stolen vehicle.
 
An investigation into this fataliy is ongoing.
