Big Rig Involved in Fatal Crash on 5 Freeway in Kern County

 
KERN COUNTY, CA (June 22, 2021) – Police confirmed that one person died in a big rig crash on 5 Freeway on June 18.
 
According to the California Highway Patrol, the collision happened near Stockdale Highway around 5:56 AM.
 
Based on a report, a car was traveling southbound on the highway at the time of the crash. Due to unknown reasons, it crossed the center divider into the northbound traffic. Subsequently, it collided with the big rig that was carrying between 35-40 pounds of solar panels. Then, the car went under the rear of a big rig and caught fire upon impact.
 
As a result, the driver of the car sustained fatal injuries and died. Officials did not yet release the name of the victim.
 
At this point, this big rig crash on 5 Freeway is still under investigation by the CHP.
