Multi-Vehicle Crash Involving Semi Truck on Highway 99 in Madera County Seriously Injures One

 
MADERA COUNTY, CA (August 14, 2023) – One person was airlifted in a multi-vehicle accident on Highway 99 in Madera County Thursday morning on August 10.
 
The accident happened around 8:00 a.m. near Avenue 12 in a construction zone. According to the California Highway Patrol, the driver of a semi-truck was in the fast lane and could not stop in time rear-ending a trailer being pulled by a pickup. The impact of the initial crash caused a chain reaction involving another vehicle.
 
First responders found one of the drivers pinned in the vehicle. The victim was airlifted to a local hospital with major injuries.
 
The driver of the pickup truck fled the scene and still at large.
 
An investigation into this crash is ongoing.
