EL CAJON, CA (October 4, 2021) — A police officer suffered injuries in a hit-and-run on Avocado Avenue on Thursday, September 30.
 
According to El Cajon Police Department, at around 1:45 a.m., the officer tried to detain a driver for violation of vehicle code near 700 Avocado Avenue. Instead of obeying the officer, the driver allegedly put his car in reverse and struck the officer as he drove away.
 
Police said the driver collided his vehicle into a tree while fleeing the area.
 
The police officer received treatment for minor injuries at a hospital and has since been released.
