Multi-Vehicle Accident on Highway 74 near Meadowbrook Leaves Nieto Ruiz Dead

 
MEADOWBROOK, CA (April 29, 2021) – Nieto Ruiz died in a multi-vehicle accident on Highway 74 near Meadowbrook Tuesday afternoon, April 27.
 
The accident happened just before 4:00 p.m. near Ethanac Road, just east of Lake Elsinore. According to the California Highway Patrol, the 26-year-old man was driving a 2017 Honda Civic eastbound on Highway 74 approaching the Guadalupana Produce Market at 55 mph.
 
A 28-year-old Moreno Valley woman exited the market parking lot in her 2018 Mercedes-Benz van. She failed to notice a Toyota Camry which was heading toward her as she attempted to enter the eastbound lane.
 
The driver of the Toyota attempted to make an evasive maneuver, but the vehicles collided. The Toyota continued to the left before colliding head-on with Ruiz’s Honda.
 
As a result, Ruiz suffered severe injuries. Responding fire crews pronounced him dead at the scene.
 
The driver of the Toyota, a 19-year-old Perris man, suffered major injuries. Paramedics took him to Riverside University Medical Center, where he remains in serious but stable condition.
 
Meanwhile, the driver of the Mercedes was not injured.
 
An investigation is ongoing.
